The Annual Fund
At The Children’s Museum of Memphis we make “PLAY” a priority in all we do. The overwhelming goal of a good Children’s museum is to engage Children to do what comes naturally. We help foster a Child’s creativity and imagination so that they learn by doing. Science reveals that play has positive effects on brain development and functioning. It is critical in supporting the physical, social-emotional, communicative, sensory, and cognitive development of all Children.
Over the past 11 years, we have experienced phenomenal growth by constantly updating existing exhibits and adding new ones to keep our facilities bright, fresh, clean, colorful and innovative. It also allows us to integrate the latest educational theory. This formula has led the museum to success with teachers and parents alike. In 2008, we had less than 2,500 family memberships. Today, we are happy to have over 6,700 families that support us as members. Last year attendance was 341,017, and so far this year attendance is up 8%. We are seeing more out-of-towners traveling to experience our unique, hands-on exhibit and educational programs. In addition, the Memphis Grand Carousel opens in November and will be a Memphis icon for many generations. We can’t wait for you to see the finished product!
Thanks to your previous support and that of others like yourself, YOU have had a direct effect on us successfully impacting and brightening the lives of Children in the Memphis area and beyond for 27 years, but we need your help to continue doing so. Please consider supporting our bright, innovative exhibits and colorful programs that continue to make us one of the best Children’s museums in the nation.
